Activities
People come to our church buildings for a variety of reasons.
Some want to share in Christian worship. Others hope to find
companionship, or to engage in a hobby or pastime. Whatever
their reason for coming all are welcome.

What
is a Christian?
An increasing number of people of all ages
want to know what Christianity is all about. Here we offer a
brief outline. There are some links to follow if you want to
explore further, and an invitation to join an Emmaus Group.
Services
Our pattern of worship is very varied and we hope that
most people will find something that suits them. We believe
that people of all types and ages find that worshipping in our
churches helps them to enjoy a deeper relationship with God,
with themselves and with other people.
sunday@5
Something new is sunday@5 designed
for people who would like to attend church but can't manage
Sunday mornings. On the third Sunday in each month at 5pm an
informal service for people of all ages is followed by a proper
Sunday tea. Ideal if you are going home from work, shopping
or a sporting fixture.
Children
For children aged 3 to 10 we have Sunday
School and other educational and fun activities as well as the
uniformed organisations - Beavers, Cubs, Rainbows and Brownies.
Young People
Young people of ten years and upwards are
welcome at our Sunday morning 'Teens Group' whether or not they
consider themselves church members. We also have uniformed organisations
- Guides, Rangers, Scouts and Explorer Scouts - for young people
of secondary school age through to young adulthood.
Adults
Christian Basics courses, study groups
and prayer meetings are regular features of parish life. Anyone
wanting to find out more about the Christian Faith or to deepen
their own religious understanding and experience is invited
to join in. There are additional opportunities for study and
for prayer during Lent and at other times.
Social
In our two churches we enjoy a wide range
of social activities. Occasional Sunday lunches, home meetings,
concerts, quiz nights, dances and other kinds of events help
people to get to know one another and to build friendships.
Music
If you like singing or playing a musical
instrument, and if you enjoy concerts or organ recitals, we
believe that Christ Church and St Mark's Church have quite a
lot to offer.
Fairtrade
We only use fairly traded tea and coffee at our church events. We have a Fairtrade stall permanently set up in Christ Church with ‘special' stalls in both churches on the first Sunday in the month. We hold occasional Fairtrade Lunches.
We hope that in these pages you might find
things that interest you. For more detailed information about
